David’s Yeast Rolls

By David & Martha Cox 08/22/2011

These yeast rolls are based on a recipe I found that was promoted as an imitation of Texas Roadhouse’s yeast rolls. I don’t believe that this recipe and theirs are really the same, but these yeast rolls are definitely delicious and only take about an hour to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 – 1 1/3 Cups Water
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 3 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1/4 Cups of Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 teaspoons Yeast

The Process

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add water and butter, and knead with a spoon.
  3. Divide the dough into balls, and place on a well greased 9″x13″ pan.
  4. Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. After the rolls have risen, brush with honey butter (recipe below).
  7. Bake in oven for 20 – 30 minutes, until the tops of the rolls are brown.
  8. Immediately upon removing the rolls from the oven, spread more honey butter on them.
  9. After the rolls have cooled for a few minutes, serve rolls with additional honey butter on the side!

An hour may seem like a lot of time to spend on bread, but trust me: These rolls are amazing!

Honey Butter Recipe

Mix equal parts honey and softened butter or margarine. For example, 1/2 Cup softened butter and 1/2 honey.
